About film
“An Unprotecting Veil” is a 20-minute documentary short on an incident of mass sexual harassment that happened during the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Fitr in downtown Cairo on October 24th, 2006.  Women who were wearing conservative Islamic dresses and veils were harassed alongside uncovered females and even children! This incident shifted how sexual harassment is viewed: no longer can women be to blame because of what they are wearing and now they are not individually responsible for this treatment. This realization calls attention on society’s responsibility to improve this situation for females on the streets in Cairo.
